Skin Fatigue: Signs that Your Skin is Feeling the Stress

Why is it happening to you and how can you remedy it?

Skin fatigue is a relatively new term yet many of us may have experienced the effects that come with it. Dull skin, enlarged pores, premature aging and spotting are all signs that your skin is feeling the stress and wearing down. In fact, that is exactly what skin fatigue is: the unfortunate wear and tear of our skins' defences.

So why is it happening to you?

In a word: Stress

Your hectic lifestyle, work and environment can put undue stress to your physical and mental well-being. As a result, your skin’s defences get affected, leading to damage.

It boils down to 3 main factors how this happens:

  1. Poor Nutrition

Stress from a hectic lifestyle may cause you to eat irregularly or consume too many unhealthy snacks. You may not be consuming the nutrients necessary for your own immunity, and even if you do, your irregular meals can make absorption of these nutrients inefficient.

  1. Lack of rest

Long workdays, frequent travelling and late-night calls can put our sleep schedules off-track. Our body does not have the time it needs to recover from the daily stressors.

  1. Urban Pollution

Living in a dense urban city like Singapore continually bombards your skin to air pollutants, impurities and UV rays that are harmful. Unfortunately, urban heat dries out your skin unforgivably.

How Can You Beat Skin Fatigue

Here are 5 things you can do immediately to protect your skin and improve its fight against fatigue.

Skincare Routine

It is important to use the right products that fit your already hectic routine.

Choose cleansers that are gentle, but effective in removing dirt and sebum, such as the anti-pollution facial wash, Cleansing Foam ; Deep Clean, Deep Moist

Next, be sure to replenish your skin’s nutrients that is high in vitamins and fast in absorption. The Oil Essence ; Essence-like, Oil-like is your go-to product – the natural oil and essence extracted from the Prickly Pear Cactus seeds moisturises and nourishes the skin – enhancing its natural strength. Follow up with the Cream ; Anti Gravity which provides resiliency for your skin against daily stress.

30-minute Exercise Routine

Get the heart pumping to help boost essential blood circulation and strengthening your immunity. 30 minutes, 3 times a week, should be sufficient.

Sleep

Try sleeping at least an hour or two earlier and put your mobile devices away from your bed.  Your skin needs time to heal and absorb the nutrients. Sleep Masks are a wonderful way to help you relax the skin before you nod off to slumber.

Relax and Meditate

If you have been slogging away at the computer hours on end, stop to pause at intervals, turn away from the screen and do some relaxation exercises. The Candle; Moroccan Gardener is a wonderful companion to your meditation – its scent can take you to a faraway place.

Protect

As you remedy your skin fatigue, it is just as important to protect your skin from further damage. When going out, be sure to use sunblock like Sun Cream ; Stay Sun Safe.

When at home, be sure to protect your skin from persistent air conditioning and glare from your devices. We recommend using Essential Mist; Sense of Balance. It is a soothing facial mist that instantly refreshes and soothes irritated skin.

At the end of the day, we want to make sure that our skins’ defences are ready to battle any skin problem. The key is to keep healthy and happy.
